Metro
Gymnastics Center, based in Tigard, Oregon, was founded in
March of 1990. That month Metro started out with approximately 60 students
and has grown to over 1,100 students since that time. Metro has also
grown from 11,000 square feet to 21,000 square foot facility. Metro offers
a wide variety of gymnastics
classes, team gymnastics programs, cheerleading
coaching, and preschool
programs. In addition, we offer
dozens of events and activities including Birthday
Parties,
Family Nights, Parents Night Out, Play Days, Summer Camps, Mini-Nationals
and Skill Clinics to name a few.
Metro Gymnastics recently received the honor of being designated as a Gold Medal Children’s Activity Center by the prestigious Character Counts!
David & Cindy Klein are the owners and operators of Metro Gymnastics Center.
David was a competitive gymnast from 1974 – 1979 and has been
a positive influence in the lives of many children for the past 22 years.
He is currently the Men’s Region II Chairman and has served USA
Gymnastics for the past 17 years. David is KAT certified, Level II Accredited,
Safety Certified and has been a Professional Member since 1984. His love
for children really comes through in his caring approach to teaching
children of all ages and all abilities. He helps to set the standard
by which all Metro’s employees are measured.
Cindy’s background actually came from anything but gymnastics.
She earned her degree in Psychology from the University of Puget Sound
and has been a teacher at Metro since 1995. Cindy is KAT certified; safety
certified and is Director of Metro’s Mini Movers gymnastics program
(with an enrollment of over 400 children). She also has a
unique care and love for children, which makes her a model
for the entire Metro Staff.
Metro’s gymnastics staff is carefully selected and they are continually improving their professionalism through education and certification programs. Metro Gymnastics Center provides staff training in a multitude of physical activities that will benefit your child throughout their lives. All Metro staff are required to be First Aid/CPR certified as well as Level 1 Accredited.
For nearly 20 years the staff of Metro Gymnastics Center has been influential in the general development of thousands of local children. We believe that the lessons these children have learned at Metro have helped make them the strong leader, outstanding athletes and confident students they are. This is evident by Metro Gymnastics Center’s Mission Statement:
To provide a fun, positive and self-esteem building environment for all children and adults who participate in any of our programs
